While plenty was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 this Summer, MARVEL STUDIOS PHASE 4 was the major takeaway of what was to come. Some other notable mentions such as Star Trek’s new series: Picard, along with a new official trailer surely blew roof off over a sea of cosplayers and nerd attendees alike . Spider-Man FFH/ Stranger Things S3 Spoiler Review

With both commercial and critical successes of Spider-Man: Homecoming leaving high expectations, the second film, Far From Home arrives in the massive wake of Avengers: Endgame. Though Tom Holland’s much praised portrayal of everyone’s favorite web-head seemed to have nothing to prove, it would also appear quite the contrary with lots to prove (due to fanboy constant demands for pitch perfect authenticity of character). We at TBC_afp are no different in that regard as we also measure up. Swing in to find out! #spiderpun

Dark Phoenix/ Godzilla 2 Spoiler Review

The Summer of 2019 is speeding right past us and so are the releases of several genre films. Some that we have been anticipating and some not so much. Nevertheless, we here at TBC_afp are dedicated to delivering fair and balanced critique… well sorta. In subway series fashioned double header, we tackle both Dark Phoenix and Godzilla: King of Monsters but are they up to snuff?

The Thing vs Starman: John Carpenter Retrospective

John Carpenter over decades has been commonly referred to as a master of the cinematic horror action genre. Yet, In fact, filmmakers such as James Cameron, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo del Toro to name a few represent a generation who have been influenced by Carpenter’s eclectic style and in some case armed only with minimal equipment and vision for storytelling.

TBC_afp deep dives into two of Carpenter’s most iconic Sci-Fi pieces and in some respects, underrated works: The Thing (1982) and Starman (1984).

Sit back with some oatmeal and pie and enjoy!

AVENGERS: ENDGAME (SPOILER REVIEW)

As it’s currently reached the billion dollar behemoth status, Avengers: Endgame, sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (both directed by brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo) is the stamped culmination marking 11 years of cinematic triump and world building by Marvel Studios. With great pleasure and delight, TBC_afp reviews this massive film chronicling World’s Mightiest Heroes, thus closing a monumental chapter yet making room for some new stories… until next time we hear the battlecry: #AVENGERSASSEMBLE

SHAZAM! (Spoiler Review)

A famous writer once penned the line “What's in a name? That which we call a rose; By any other name would smell as sweet” in order to evoke the idea that what really counts isn’t just how a thing is labeled. Rather that true heroic significance and character comes from within or that our actions define us. In SHAZAM!, starring Zachary Levi as DC Comic’s sometimes anti-Superman analog and child’s-eye-view superhero commentary (commonly know through the source material as Captain Marvel), WB/ DC Cinematic Universe attempts to deliver at the Box Office again at the wake of Aqua-success, The World's Mightiest Mortal. Follow TBC_afp as they take that leap of faith and call out SHAZAM!

Captain Marvel (Spoiler Review)

It is Marvel Studio’s tenth anniversary “phase” build up and we are introduced to Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel. With actress Brie Larsen portraying the character lead as Marvel’s biggest heavy, there is without hesitation both excitement from fans and controversy at a trolling level. While, a week into Captain Marvel’s theatrical release and already a half billion dollars at the box office, it’s safe to assume the franchise’s security  though conversations, sometime ignited by inspiration or gender politics rages on...

Doctor Who Special

Originally recorded on December of 2018, TBC_afp and invited Guests got together for discussion about a special fanboy topic spanning close to 60 decades. As the subject has been referred to as “The Oncoming Storm”,  “The Bringer of Darkness” or “Last of the Time Lords”,  this Hero is usually (and humbly) referred to as The Doctor. So, if you’ve been living under a rock either of recent or for the past 56 years still asking “Doctor Who?”, whether you’re a diehard Whovian or just a fair weather fan, then prepare some tea (with perhaps some fish fingers and gravy, biscuits even) as we traverse through Time and Space celebrating The Doctor of BBC’s Doctor Who.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (Spoiler Review)

As they say in Lego Bricksburg, “Everything Is Awesome” especially when it’s Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, Sony’s runaway animated hit originally conceived by LEGO The Movie’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller based on Marvel’s friendly neighborhood flagship web head.

We at TBC_afp never fully considered reviewing this spectacle of a film fully casted with big names such as Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali and Nick Cage if not for the word of buzz. But we did it! So now, swing back into podcast mode and enjoy!

Aquaman (Spoiler Review)

What do you get when you combine Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Splash together ? Hopefully not just an epic food fight at Red Lobster, of course. Nevertheless, The TBC Fanboy Heroes Three (trademark pending) deep dive into  DC Cinematic Universe’s latest continuing underwater saga and closing in on $1 billion box office hit, AQUAMAN.

Ant-Man and The Wasp (Spoiler Review) / Steve Ditko RIP

How would Ant-Man’s best buddy, Luis (Michael Peña) describe this podcast episode in his own words?

“…So there’s like this podcast, its called TBC afp, I mean, afp actually stands for a fanboy podcast. They start off the show by saying: ‘You might not learn anything right… but if you stick around, you just might have some fun’ and I’m like ‘word’ and the co-host and the producer was like ‘word’, Then they start talking stuff about the new Ant-Man and The Wasp movie which  is more of follow up to Infinity War because Scott and Hope were a no show but then people disappeared and started turning to a………”

Incredibles 2 (Spoiler Review)

TO BE CONTINUED! TO BE CONTINUED! TO BE CONTINUED!

Catching the latest news!

Pow! Pow! Pow!

Ok… So it doesn’t flow as well as Mr. Incredibles theme nor is it original. After all it’s just a parody and therefore we can’t be called out for plagiarism, right?

Look, it’s been 14 years since Pixar released The Incredibles, the original breakout animated film which some fanboys have referred to as “one of the best superhero movies ever made.” Sit back and geek out with TBC a fanboy podcast on how the film measured.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (Spoiler Review)

They’ve always given Star Wars characters some pretty peculiar names like Boba, Sheev, Dooku and Han? But in Solo A Star Wars Story, do we get to find out Who Shot First? What’s on the Falcon?  or if I Dunno’s on Corellia? I mean we may never fully understand but at least Lando’s no a system. (Drum roll)

So in moving on... Angle the deflector and hit play with the crew of TBC_afp as they strap in to make the jump past the Kessel Run in under 12 parsec (Which would be a miracle if this episode is kept under 2 hours).

Deadpool 2 (Spoiler Review) + Margot Kidder RIP

The crew of TBC_afp got down to the nitty gritty topical discussion concerning Bionic Six, Margot Kidder, Telly Savales and a little known latest sequel to the massive juggernaut (full pun intended) hit movie, Deadpool. But how does the Ryan Reynold’s highly anticipated follow up fair? Do we get to see X-Forcer's like Shatterstar jump into action with the pitter patter of lil’ baby Rob Liefeld feet? And what about that "you know what" regarding Brad Pitt? So, chillax, put on some dubstep but not too loud or else you won’t be able to hear this episode.

Having gone forward in time viewing alternate futures to see all possible outcomes of the coming conflict and out of 14,000,605 possibilities, all we got was this one podcast episode. Leap right in as TBC_afp tackles Marvel Studio’s recent (by now already a massive box office) triumph signifying their tenth year in films.
